Playlists: The Slightly Less Romantic but Slightly More Accessible Mixtape.
[February 19th Update: This playlist is still killin it. Love this. Love you. That is all]Ah, the classic music playlist blog post. Let it be known, I have dreamed about this moment. I am almost consistently listening to music or making playlists. Needless to say, Spotify is my best friend. As I desperately try to keep up with new music releases and am slowly discovering foreign realms of the music kaleidoscope, I have given myself a challenge. I will make a new playlist every month. It's a fun and seemingly productive thing to do when you feel bored to tears, I promise. I would highly recommend.
So. This is my "February Playlistđź’•"
In true valentines theme, it's fairly sappy. Sorry friends. I'm spreading the love wherever and whenever I can.https://open.spotify.com/user/mahoohe/playlist/2h3e1ilCyRIa6rjXc0VkIsI honestly have no idea how many times I've listened to this playlist in this weekend alone. Too many times, probably.
The Top 8 Songs I Cannot Stop Listening To Today
-
Can't Sleep Love - Pentatonix
-
Just Friends (Sunny) - Musiq Soulchild
I have no idea how I found this song, but hot damn, I am sooooo into it. Soul is so sexy. I'm in love with this song. In love. Like, long walks on the beach and candlelit dinner romance with this song. I would go on lovey-dovey old people cruises with this song.I would bubblebath with this song. Hot damn.
-
Lemonade ( Ukulele Version ) - Jeremy Passion
I get that this song has been out for years. I know guys. I'm behind. But come on, what's more heartwarming than ukulele acoustics and beautifully sweet lyrics. It's the song that everyone should wake up to every day. And do yoga and watch the sunrise and read a book and have good wholesome alone time to. That's this song. Listen to this song. Do it now. It will make your day better, guaranteed.
-
Lights Down Low - MAX
-
Morning - Marc E Bassy
If you can't tell already, I am a sucker for piano intros. The beginning of this song almost sounds like Macklemore's "Same Love." ( Also a big fan ) It's a little cookie cutter with the handclap rhythm, but regardless of that, it makes me happy. Always listen to songs that make you happy.
-
Warm on a Cold Night - HONNE
-
Wade In the Water - Common Kings
-
Pink + White - Frank Ocean
There was such a hype around the Frank Ocean drop of Blonde in August, but I really didn't quite get it. I mean, it's good, definitely, but I guess I didn't appreciate it enough then. This song is fabulous, and easily the most popular of the album. It feels very much like a Valentine's song. I can just imagine the slow dancing and soft candlelight... Sexy. I love it.
-
Sunday Candy - Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment
I actually just found this group recently. The Social Experiment features Chance the Rapper, Donnie Trumpet (the alias of Nico Segal), Peter Cottontale, and Nate Fox. Their long-teased new album Surf, credited to Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment, was dropped for free in December of 2015. The whole album is great, but I love this song especially. It has a beautiful recurring piano riff and some amazing brass work. Definite favorite.
-
Roses - Luke Christopher
What would Valentine's be without flowers? Who knows. Probably less festive. I've actually been listening to this song for months. And I keep listening to it?? It kills me. The piano is killer, the lyrics are killer, the bass is killer, the rhythms are killer. I love this song. I'm giving you metaphorical roses with this song.
Happy February guys. I hope this playlist gives you as much joy and love as it gives me. Make sure to spread some love around your life this month ( and all the time ).
